Trauma Recovery

Trauma, acute stress, and PTSD support

Some life events overwhelm the nervous system and activate a powerful survival response. While many people naturally recover, others find that distressing symptoms linger and begin to affect sleep, relationships, concentration, or a sense of safety.

At The Being Place, I provide evidence-based therapy for adults experiencing symptoms related to acute stress or post-traumatic stress. You do not need a formal diagnosis to benefit from this work.

Therapeutic support may be helpful if you have been impacted by:

  • Natural disasters or large-scale community trauma
  • Mass violence or shootings
  • Physical assault
  • Sexual assault
  • Life-threatening illness or medical trauma, including cancer or cardiac events
  • Exposure to toxic substances or hazardous environments
  • Suicide or homicide involving a family member, friend, or close community member

Evidence-based treatment approach

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). CPT is a structured, time-limited therapy originally developed for combat veterans and now widely used with adults affected by a range of traumatic life events.

Treatment typically spans 8 to 18 sessions and focuses on helping clients process what happened, reduce distressing symptoms, and restore a sense of clarity, safety, and meaning — without reliving trauma unnecessarily.
